Pushing back on large-scale developments and modifying zoning to prevent wholesale mega-developments are options that we will pursue if elected

Keeping Glastonbury affordable – not affordable housing

Kim’s Quote from Glastonbury Life

I truly wish to give back to, as well as help shape and improve Glastonbury for current residents and future generations by serving on the Town Council. My philosophy is simple getting back to basics. Glastonbury residents and our children deserve an excellent school system and quality town services. But they also need an affordable tax structure, not tax increases. We also need to work to better address crime, and development that has changed and risks permanently altering the rural charm of Glastonbury.

Citizen Questions

The range of response: strongly agree, agree, neither agree nor disagree, disagree

What are the three greatest challenges facing the community, and how will you address them?

Keeping Glastonbury affordable for current residents! We need an affordable tax structure, not property tax increases which outpace salary increases. This is especially impactful for residents living on fixed incomes. It is time to step back to review and monitor the town spending like residents are forced to do themselves. Other issues are crime and safety. I’m hearing a theme of increasing crime where a car was stolen or burglarized, our business trucks had their catalytic converter stolen. We need to counter the negative consequences of state mandates. Another issue is addressing large-scale development that will change our town’s character/quality of life. As they could lead to significant town budget increases if new schools are required.

Zoning ordinances in town do not allow for adequate supply of housing across the income spectrum.

Neither agree nor disagree. I would require further review of specific zoning ordinances to answer the question above. There was most likely logic behind current zoning laws, so they should not simply be changed without in-depth review.

Towns should implement programs to remove food waste from the trash stream.

Neither agree nor disagree. I would agree with implementing programs to remove food waste from the trash stream depending on the amount of cost involved.

We should focus on what people want, lower taxes and less crime
