Jim Griffin, a Bristol native, has spent his life in service to his country and community. A West Point graduate and Eagle Scout, Jim served as a Lieutenant Colonel in the military, where he was involved in key peacekeeping missions in the Balkans during the late 1990s. His efforts at the Rambouillet Conference contributed to the end of the conflict and the fall of Slobodan Milosevic, earning him accolades from the U.S. government and NATO allies.
Jim’s career in Washington, D.C., began with the Reagan administration in the Office of Management and Budget, and he also worked with U.S. Senator Richard Luger. His deep understanding of both domestic and foreign policy is complemented by a Master’s degree from Georgetown University and additional studies at Johns Hopkins.
In his community, Jim has been a driving force behind efforts to preserve the historic Hartford Colt Building, aiming to turn it into a national landmark. His switch to the Republican Party reflects his evolving political beliefs, and he now stands as a strong candidate for the First Congressional District, ready to bring his extensive experience to the role. — source
Platforms
Jim has posted his views on policies on his facebook page, and his YouTube Interview at “The Wheelhouse”. We utilized the transcript of the interview and chatGPT to infer his positions on issues.
Education
Jim believes that Common Core has been a terrible disservice to students and educators alike. There is no value or real education in teaching to the test. Jim supports a classical education model focusing on science, mathematics, reading and writing (cursive) This follows Jim’s own education experience at West Point. Jim believes that the method of paying for higher education via student loans is an issue that needs to be examined and improved. While Jim does not believe in forgiving all loans, he is open to exploring Public Service programs, graduated repayment plans, and Loan Payment time limits to help.
Jim believes in returning control of education to the states, stating that education was never intended to be a federal responsibility. He asserts that when education was managed at the state level, the U.S. ranked higher globally in education. He is concerned that the federalization of education has led to the current focus on social issues rather than fundamental education. He believes this shift has contributed to America’s decline in global educational rankings and teacher burnout.
Foreign Policy and Immigration
Jim supports an America First Policy Doctrine and an end to Regime Change wars and conflicts. Jim supports a comprehensive overhaul of America’s immigration system that uses technology to speed up legal Immigration while imposing stronger penalties on those entering the country illegally. Jim supports a physical barrier at our external borders as part of the comprehensive overhaul of the Immigration system.
Veterans
As a veteran and graduate of West Point, Jim is a strong supporter of our military and veterans. A goal of Jim’s is to expand the services of the VA to offer dental care to our veterans. Our veterans deserve the best care our country can provide for the service they have provided to our country
Jobs and Economy
Jim emphasizes the need to bring back middle-class jobs, particularly in manufacturing and value-added industries, which he argues were lost to China. He connects the loss of these jobs to broader economic challenges, including funding for Social Security. He asserts that the Federal Reserve played a role in the offshoring of jobs and advocates for repatriating jobs to strengthen the middle class and bolster Social Security funding
Elder Care
Jim links elder care challenges, including the high cost of care and diseases affecting seniors, to the loss of middle-class jobs and the Federal Reserve’s actions. He believes that many diseases impacting the elderly, such as cancer, diabetes, and Parkinson’s, can be cured using natural substances. Jim also supports lowering the cost of treatments for these diseases
Reproductive Rights
Jim acknowledges a woman’s right to make decisions about her own body, including the right to an abortion, citing free will granted by God. While personally grounded in his religious beliefs, he states that he would not support a federal abortion ban, as he believes these decisions should be personal and guided by moral and ethical considerations
Affordable Housing
Jim believes that the rapid increase in housing prices is orchestrated by the Federal Reserve to make it more difficult for families and young adults to own homes. He is critical of policies that have led to inflated home values, which make housing less accessible to many people, and connects these issues to larger concerns about economic control by the Federal Reserve
Climate and Infrastructure
Jim is skeptical of mainstream climate change narratives, citing his belief that weather can be manipulated based on technology developed by Nikola Tesla. He suggests that we already possess the ability to control weather and create free energy. (Jim’s statement in regards these two issues is not factually correct) He is critical of the Federal Reserve’s influence on infrastructure and other economic policies
